Last fall, the Carrier cancelled our voluntary CDL agreement which afforded it some relief from existing work rules when sending employees to JCCC for CDL training. Since those provisions are no longer in effect, it is critical all who are sent to JCCC for such training be aware that all existing agreement rules apply while in CDL training. This includes, but is not limited to, off-district payments under Rule 48E, minimum day pay for rest days, Rule 13F and payment for the hours of your normal assignment. If you are sent to JCCC for CDL training, please reach out to your local chairman to discuss your specific work schedule and your entitlements.
In the past, claims had to be filed to collect the full amount due. However, we are cautiously optimistic that claims will not be necessary any longer and Carrier will properly pay you. It is still advised that you coordinate with your local chairman up front, to ensure you get all you are entitled to.
