As previously reported, bargaining with CP/KC for our next agreement is being handled locally since the Carrier opted not to be part of the NCCC. The BRS will be bargaining with CP/KC as part of a coalition with BMWE, ATDA, IBB, IAM and SMART-MD. Accordingly, the coalition had our first bargaining session with the Carrier in Kansas City on February 20, 2025. Very little progress was made in this initial session beyond establishing the framework under which coalition bargaining will work moving forward. We established a robust schedule of meetings occurring at least monthly and extending into late summer (more will be scheduled when/if necessary). Under the framework established, the coalition will bargain together over issues common to the crafts (GWI’s, Healthcare, Sick Leave, etc.).
Additional sessions are scheduled wherein craft specific issues will be negotiated separate from the coalition. This will provide us the opportunity to focus on issues exclusive to signalmen. We look forward to our next meeting on April 3-4. Any updates will be disseminated to all affected members following those dates, as occurred subsequent to our February meeting.
